My neighbour’s big old weeping willow has split off near the base and I wonder if I need to be concerned about the roots growing aggressively towards my septic field (which is within twenty feet of the tree). It has always been a bit of a worry but not a problem. Is there anything that can be done? I am in the Shuswap.

I don't think, that roots would grow any faster after the branch split.
I suppose, that it would be wise to remove the tree.
