Spider in my garden

    I found this spider while gathering flowers for a bouquet from my garden. I'd never seen one like it. Sadly the picture isn't too clear because I managed to photo it through a glass. (Didn't want to kill it) Just wondering if anyone knows what it is, and if it bites. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

    My thanks for preserving the spider's life, and for being interested in who he/she is.

    Thanks for the tip! I did post on BugGuide.net on June 18th. I just thought perhaps two sites might be more effective. I think it's probably a local, but friends were thinking it was a hitchhiker from elsewhere. I sure would like to know.
