Back in the good old days of my undergrad years at UBC, I had the privilege of studying under Dr. Schofield on Bryophytes. I recall going on field trips to "distant" Richmond where we'd observe various species of Sphagnum moss - from the compact form to the rubellum form (red).

Alas, it is with a heavy heart that I see concrete and homes in place of where massive sphagnum bogs used to be.

Where I currently reside, sphagnum grows in the ditches and roadside areas up and down the coast.

Here's my question: Other than Burns Bog, Richmond Nature Park and Camosun Bog, are there still places in and around the Vancouver area that one can view the various forms of the Sphagnaceae family?

    Thanks.

How about Eagle Ridge? Oh, nevermind... that's going to be a highway...
