I was given a beautiful and lush plant and have it in my living room which is not bright. The plant is doing well except for the fact that I have notice a couple of the leaves have developed nickle-sized black spots. What is this due to and what can I do to prevent it?

Sounds like maybe either a fungus problem, or, too much water mixed with a change of environment to a lower light. Too much fertilizer (fertilizer burn) can also cause leaves to blacken.

You should pinch off all of the leaves that are effected because they won't ever heal.

Water only when the top starts to feel dry to the touch, about an inch or so down, before the leaves really start to wilt. You don't want water sitting in the saucer, so make sure it's always spilled out after watering. Peace lilies do well in bright indirect light, direct hot sun can burn the leaves.
