As a B.C. boy who is now living in London (UK) I want to re-create a little piece of Sooke in my (small) front garden.
I know I should be looking to plant salal (Gaultheria shallon), and pot-bound Douglas Fir or cedar, but what other plants would give me the look, and perhaps more importantly the smell, of the west coast of Vancouver Island? And where can I source them from?
    Thanks for any advice.

Most BC native woody plants are readily available in Britain; try the RHS Plant Finder for sources (enter the scientific name in the search box). Note though that London is a lot drier than the west coast of Vancouver Island, more like Victoria or Vancouver. For the west coast temperate rainforest climate, you need to head to western Scotland.
