A few weeks ago I bought Song of India. It was beautiful, with a lot of leaves. I’ve got some other plants from the same store, Pike Nursery, and found out later that some of them were infested with spider mites or mealybugs,or other diseases. The Song of India looked fine at first, but shortly after that it started not only loosing its leaves from the bottom part of the stems/they would dry up and eventually fall/,but the new leaves were coming with dry yellowish or light brown spots on them.A lot of the leaves also have small brown dots.I asked in the store, they said it was a disease, but didn't specify, since so many of the plants they sold to me had different kind of problems. They recommended an insect control product with a basic ingredient Imidacloprid, but it doesn't seem to be working.I tried more humidity ,putting it in a location with more sunlight, nothing helps. I read about the plant problems in this and other forums, but did not find a solution for exactly this kind of problems. Can somebody, please, help me not to lose the plant? Not only I've paid a lot of money for it, but it also breaks my heart to see it going from a perfect shape to unattractive plant with bare stems and dry leaves. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have noticed this is a common problem with song of india plants that are grown indoors. They tend to get some disease/virus and quickly die, there may not be anything you can do to savethis plant. If it does die i suggest throwing away the soil and plant and disinfect the pot ( if you keep it ) with bleach. ALso You might want to find a new plant supplier.

I'd take the plant back to where you bought it and get my money back!

That's too bad about the nursery not having a return policy. Your right not to shop there again.
If you have a Lowe's, Home depot, or a Walmart near you, you'll be able to take the plant back if there were any problems.
