slug beer trap. If you google "slug beer trap" lots of images and videos come up if you wanted to see some examples.
good thread JungleKeeper (above) i bought some of the copper from Lee Valley a few years ago. also - Miry - I think you have pets? (mentioned in previous discussion here) - note that bait is highly toxic and they are attracted to it for some reason - you'd have a tragedy on your hands for sure. http://npic.orst.edu/capro/snailbait.html beer - well - sure. I don't know if the non-alcohol (and much less costly) beer would work just as well - does it have to have the alcohol in it? I think it's the sweetness they like. And you will have to quell any queasy thoughts as you dispose of a container of drowned mushy slugs. ugh.
Yes I do have two miniature dachshund so I would have to be careful what I use. I actually disposed of one in the front yard this morning.
---- DISPOSED? ---- i hope you mean a naughty slug - not a dachs pup ; ) tho i have been known to make some treasured animal friends grave markers in former gardens.
Your too funny! Can you see me doing away with one of these cute dogs? Miry on the left curled up in my clean clothes that I just took out of the dryer and Angel loving the afghan
your photos give a whole new meaning to the term "slug" don't they - as in lazy cuddly warm and - very photogenic and cute! they must enjoy your sunny garden outdoors with you - off topic now - do they dig your garden - my dachs experience is that they can rip out the garden - usually whatever you have coaxed along and is JUST about to bloom - they are very energetic diggers - wide chest - muscular legs, big paws - floppy ears to protect their ear canals from soil, etc.
Thank goodness my dogs do not dig in my gardens. I do have raised beds but still they don't cause any problems. I have a large backyard for then to roam, investigate and they have this funny thing they do. Miry chases Angel around and around the yard. Boy can they run. It is a hoot!!! They love to chase the crows. I just have to say crows and they want outside. One thing I can say is they make me laugh every day!
I must say the picture of Angel tugged at my heart strings. We lost our boy Ace mid January and after 25 years we are now a dog-less house, and it ain't the same I can tell you. That look on Angel's face is just too familiar...
