i haven't had the lifestyle to keep a plant alive in my house yet, but i'm determined. i have been doing well with this zz plant, but have a newcomer sprouting out yellow. i'm not sure if i've over watered it or if i need to re-plant it. there are about 6 stalks in a small 19"circ. pot. does this plant outgrow it's pot? does it need new soil?

Hi, only water when most of the soil is dry, give it lots of sun all day (if possible), and don't worry about repotting this year.

It looks like it has been over watered. Zamioculcas zamiifolia really like conditions on the drier side. They are able to store water in their roots and can go for months without being watered. Best to plant in a sandy soil and water every week or two. Can take very low light, so do well in homes.

It can take low light, but prefers it high.
