    Hi there,
wondering if perhaps anyone can help me out.
A friend had to move away and wanted me to take her plant ensuring that I would look after it. So try as I might this plant just does not seem to be doing well.

I was wondering if perhaps someone could tell me what this plant is, what is wrong with it, and how I can go about trying to alleviate the issue.

Attached are some pictures of the leaves, take note of the little brown spots, also the leaves seem to be covered with a sticky residue.

    Thanks

Looks like some sort of Schefflera plant, by the stem, and looks a bit like scale to me. If it is scale spray or wipe white oil on the top and bottom of the leaves.

i agree with ed...it's a schefflera and it's got scale.

don't know what white oil is...he's probably correct that it will work to get rid of the bugs (i've not had to deal with them, so far, so i have no idea on treatment).
