I live in the Dallas area and have a Shumard Red Oak that we got about 4 years ago. The trunk is currently about 8 inches across and it is about 20 feet high at its very peak. This fall it turned a beautiful red color (as expected), but the leaves have never fallen off and it's now the end of February. I'm concerned. Should I be?

    Thanks.

That's fairly normal with many young oaks. As it gets older, it'll gradually lose the habit of holding on to the dead leaves over the winter.

Last year's old leaves will drop off as the new buds open in spring.
