    Hi all,

I bought two (highstemmed) Ginkgo Biloba Tremonia 12/14 trees yesterday. I was not able to choose them, they were delivered to me. One of them has quite a lot (at least in my mind) damage in the bark, yet it seems quite old. A big strip of bark is removed at the bottom, and another strip near an old pruning wound.

Should I be worried that this will cause infections or so in the future if I just plant the trees and do nothing else?

The piece of bamboo you see is a big piece, not the regular diameter. Its about as thick as a child's wrist.

Scars are vey long to heal on Gingko, but this is not really a problem for i don't think therey are prone to diseases.

I have a couple, one of them is supposed to be a "bonsai" ! It's got a big scar that has never been treated for over ten years and is perfectly healthy. See the "progression" here, from June 2008 :
