Anyone out there with sealing wax palm seeds or small plants that can be aquired?

If you order any, be sure and find out for certain how old the seeds are and when they were collected. I have a very good friend in Hawaii who grows Crytostachys renda and he sent me a bag of seeds last year. Now, don't panic, I grow rare tropicals in a large greenhouse with a controlled environment. Not one of those seeds would germinate! I followed his instructions to the letter, which was to put the seeds in a sealed Zip Lock bag filled with damp sphagnum moss and keep it in bright indirect light where some sunlight could reach the bag daily. Nothing ever grew and I had been warned it could take four months. He told me later it is not uncommon for seeds to loose the ability to germinate quickly.

I also have a friend in Naples, FL (near you) who grows these plants and he has to protect them if the temperature drops below 55 degrees F. The plant requires a lot of water (it is a swamp plant) and simply won't tolerate cold. If you want to send me a private note I'll give you an email address because I know he has seedlings available. I am also aware of a grower near Palm Beach who has plants already up and going and sells them at a reasonable price.
