i have a schefflera plant that i bought with in the last week or so. i have put it in front of a window that has net curtains, but the top leaves are starting to droop down (they were pointing upwards when i got it) so it does look like an umbrella, but the thing that i am worried about is that these leaves are very soft and floppy, any ideas whats causing this.
    thanks Anne

overwatering, underwatering, shock from moving to the new location, too much sunlight, too little sunlight, too hot, too cold. could be any of these!

i've not succeeded with this lovely plant!! i'm watching my latest one die at the moment. the only one that i had some success with was one of the miniature types that i was going to bonsai. it was doing very, very well until the cat decided it was a toy :(

i had it on the plant stand under the lights (lights were on a timer and mimiced real daylight hours). didn't water it too often at all and just gave it a bit of a drink when i did. the plant stand is in my kitchen so it's never very hot or very cold in there - stays consistantly around 68 winter and summer.

the others i've tried in the same place as i had the mini and they failed fairly quickly. i've also tried them closer to the window in the kitchen which has white sheers - so bright filtered lighting. nope, i can't keep them alive.

i've about given up on them. good luck with yours!!
