    Saxegothaea conspicua, in the Podocarpaceae family, is a lot more confusing in real life than in photos. Most of these photos show pollen cones and seed cones, and young leaves either light yellow-green or pink. The second photo, in the lower right, shows new leaves just about to open, and they didn't look all that different from the seed cones when we were trying to figure out what was what.

    The young cones are 'lumpy', the new foliage not ;-)
