    Hi there!
I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge re: caring for potted gymea lillies. We have one on our balcony that was perfectly happy until we moved to the coast. When we came here it was growing happily and was very healthy. Now it only has 3 leaves and they are yellowing and the tips are brown. Does anyone know anything about how much, and what kind of, fertiliser they require?
If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful!
    Tahnee

Doryanthes excelsa, for anyone else who was wondering.

  3. oh, sorry!
Yeah, this is an Australian Native. It has a metre plus high base, with long, spear shaped leaves, which are quite tough. It flowers irregularly, putting out a 3-4 metre long stem on which a red flower grows. I didn't realise that this was a British forum, but if there are any aussies (or anyone else) out there who may know about this plant, that'd be great.

The "home" of the forum is the University of British Columbia Botanic Garden in Vancouver, BC Canada, but it is open to everyone and there are members all over the world - quite a few in Australia. I am not familiar with this plant (looks like a real eyecatcher!) and I could not find any good pages on its care on the internet.

Well I hope a grower chimes in on this one. I am curious to learn more about the plant now.
