I just noticed a spot near the base of my weeping pine that appears to be infected with fungus of some kind. The sap is bleeping out. I cut off a branch in that spot in late winter, so that must be what caused it... but is there anything I can do make sure it doesn't become a bigger problem? The tree otherwise looks healthy right now.

Here is a photo of the problem area.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

It is very probably just the cut branch causing it (pines bleed resin to seal the wound), but it would help to see a close-up of the area where the bleeding starts to see for sure.
