Ok I"m new to maples so I'm a little confused. I was at home depot today and I saw that they had their maples at 50% off. So I walk up to the first tree and it says Sango-kaka 149.99, then I walk upto another tree and it said Coral Bark for 99.99. If I'm not wrong are these not the same tree? I mean there was no difference in these trees. Am I wrong or right on this one?
Given the pricing I'd suspect the "Coral Bark" is a seedling with red bark as opposed to the real thing. Which in no way makes it (necessarily) an inferior plant. Then again I have 0% confidence in any plant label from Home Depot... -E
Yes, I was thinking the same as Emery. Although the Juniperus conferta that I grabbed at HD other day looked great. When I planted it I found severely root bound situation. I expect it will be fine. Also grabbed a bunch of Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Rose Glow' for $3 each in 2-qts.
Um. I'd be very careful about any Sangu Kaku I brought home, especially from a large chain store. You might find this thread interesting: http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=46073
hey guys what would the average price be for a 9 foot Sango-Kaku? I know they are gonna vary but I found one at a nursery for 99.99 and I was curious if that sounded right. I've been trying to find them for sale online to see what they are but I have not found any that big.
Of course not, Hybrid. You probably can get some cultivar bigger than average (1, 3, 5 ,7 ,10 gal) online; but probably you also have to spend a little fortune for delivery charges. However, you can get more posibilities with high demand cultivars as Sango Kaku. Good luck! Nelran
You would likely spend nearly that much on shipping alone for a tree that size. I'd say that's a good buy if it is healthy.
