I have just purchased some Royal Empress trees via internet. They have not arrived yet, but I want to make sure that I prepare the soil correctly. I live in the southeast (Tallahassee, Florida) and my soil is not the best...fairly sandy and the trees will be in full sunlight. What is the best way to prepare the soil for the new trees? Would a mixture of half my original soil and half musroom compost work? I have order some controlled release (8 mos.) fertilizer tablets (10-10-10), which was recommended. Where/how would I place the tablets in the hole?

No amendments at all, from what seems to be the general consensus. See section 5.7 on this site re: planting trees.
