We have been hearing quite a bit about challenging weather this summer on the east coast, including brown-tipped leaves on maples. It is likely the heat, but feel free to post a photograph. Some of the red maples out here started coloring really early this year.

With our routinely dry summers maples often look punky early in the season here. Very many have been planted and not all are on truly suitable sites, by any means. Never watered, long-suffering red maple (Acer rubrum) in particular do much to contribute to the lack of charm of huge, soulless commercial complexes.
