First Post please be nice! LOL I've attached a picture I took today of a branch on one of the live oaks on my property. I plan to build a new home on it this year and this particular tree will be right behind my house and next to my pool. Can you tell me if this red stuff will be a problem? thanks, Spencer
Can you give us more of a description? I'd say it looks like a lichen, but the photo isn't clear enough to be sure. Any structures, like does the red blob in the center have cups? Is the main part reddish, looks like it could be tan or grayish. Is it really red around/under the rim? I tried to blow it up a little, but it's still hard to tell. Have you tried your local extension office? They should know if it's a fungus that will be a problem. Good luck!
