Re-rooting a cherry tree

Discussion in 'Fruit and Nut Trees' started by Unregistered, May 9, 2005.

  1. Does anyone know if I can take a small branch from a cherry tree and get it to re-root itself? My mother gave them to me and we are not sure if they are going to work or not. Any suggestions - thank you Cindy leecindy417@aol.com

you may get it to root on its own (a cutting) but generally fruit trees and most flowering cherries are grafted to a rootstock in order to limit growth.

While it varies, with willows being easy, many deciduous trees require special techniques and equipment to be rooted from cuttings.
