I have a healthy R.hotei that has produced numerous leaf and flower buds. I am disappointed to see the larger flower buds starting to brown. They seem to be rotting near the base and the outer bud leaves fall off. One suggestion is that it is the result of drought during their development during the preceding late Aug. to Sept. Once more I am going to miss out on a great show of yellow blooms!!!
    Any suggestions?
(There is no evidence of the fungal pathogen Pycnostysanus azalae)

May have been damaged from the cold snap last fall or over winter.

Most of them or some here-and-there?

The flower buds seem to be healthy and then one by one start to change colour and die off.... most frustrating. Last season the same thing happened and I ended up with only a couple of flowers. This season there appear to only be 3 or 4 buds that are still OK.
