We've recently purchased a single blueberry bush and now are told we need two to
make things "work right" so to speak,we have blackberry, raspberry and allmost a dozen fruit trees in the visinity[?] would these others be enough to pollinate the blueberry or do we need a second bush?

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as you have a few native species of blueberries nearby. Pollinators are bumblebees - so your single bush needs to be within the foraging range of the wild species.

(and if your neighbours have blueberries, you'll have no problem either)
