    Hello,

I recently bought a 8 inch Dwarf Meyer Lemon tree off the web. The plant they sent is what looks like 2 identical trees planted about 1 inch apart. Should I try to separate them, cut one of them or let mother nature do her thing?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

You could probably do any of the 3 and be OK, but if the tree is only 8 inches, you probably have a good chance of separating them and having 2 trees if you want.

But then there is the question of why are there 2 trees? If the tree is grafted, you should only have one trunk and possibly 2 shoots coming from that. If it is from a rooted cutting, again it may have only one trunk below the level you can see.

If it was grown from seed--you don't really have a Meyer lemon--you have an unknown hybrid that has very small chances of being a good citrus. Meyer is one of only a few citrus that do not grow true from seed.
