Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone in Canada, keeps the "Live oak", as a
    semi tropical tree.

I have sourced them close to home as a 2ft tall tree for sale, and am thinking of
trying to keep it as a semi-tropical bonsai.
I realize these are not full hardy in my zone, but can provide a cool winter,
with suplemental light, putting it outdoors in the summer.

    Any pro's or con's?

It will be kept as a bonsai.

    Thanks.

Might be possible to make quite a bonsai out of one of these as giant old specimens in the south have similar character, with thick, curving trunks and spreading branches.
