Went with david Wong for the reported yellow bellied sapsucker
with 500mm lens + 1.4x TC. The bird didn't show up. So I was
left with a totally unsuitable lens for macros. Shot these at 12
feet distance, quality not entirely satisfactory. Just to confirm
if these are Split Gills ? Thanks for the ID.

There's something about the phrase "yellow-bellied sapsucker" that sounds like a PG-rated cowboy film way of insulting someone .... <grin>
Though I am sure it is a beautiful bird just the same!

I concur with your ID David - beautiful and amazing Split gills.
