purle leaf flowering plum

  1. I live in Northern BC and have a purle leaf flowering plum tree on the south facing side of the house. It has started to some of the main branches appear to be dead and did not leaf out this spring. Id did not flower as well. Other parts of the tree appear to be in good health. Not sure how old the tree is but the base is 10-12inches. Can I prune the dead parts out and cut it back? or is there other solutions.

    Thanks in advance, Tracy

Frost injury, insect damage or fungal/bacterial dieback migh all be possible. Dead branches can certainly be removed.
