I am a very novice gardener, with a new piece of land in Chile. We have beautiful lavender that has been in the ground almost a year now. Is there a right time or a wrong time to prune lavender? How many times a year should you do it?
    Thanks!!

Shear lightly once per year when new growth is just starting, in spring. As with heathers and brooms, you must stay above and outside the old, bare stems. Specimens that cannot be made presentable by heading back only the growths with foliage still present should be removed and replaced.
