We have 2 espaliered apple trees-Probably 3-5 yrs old and put in last summer -each with 3 main branch systems -how and where do we prune? Each lateral has sent up 3-4 healthy vertical shoots(each about 2-3 yrs old). Do we keep and train these or cut them right back? I dont want to loose the possibility of good apples this year!!!. Thanks John

there is a book that explains it well, Pruning and Training, Christopher Brickell. Chapters/Indigo may have it on the shelf.
