I've been working on growing proteas from seed for the last couple of years and have figured it out fairly well. I have upwards of a dozen species about a year old and just planted another dozen or so species this fall. They are very temperamental when young but grow quickly once they get going. The photo is of a protea nerifolia seedling, I believe.
