i've taken a few olive tree cuttings, and put them in a solution of water and a pinch of sugar. cold these possibly start growing roots? i've rooted several mint cuttings and basil cuttings the same way before, just wondering if the same can be done with an olive tree.

    thanks

Olives are usually grown from hardwood or semihardwood cuttings. Rooting is much improved if mist and rooting hormones are used. Sometimes in the early spring large chips can be cut from olive trees and buried, bark side up, in the ground. If kept moist and warm they begin to sprout and grow, although the practice is hard on the parent tree. If you plant an olive seed, the seed often takes a year or longer to sprout, though chipping the hard shell helps somewhat. - Millet
