My jade plant recently had a fall thanks to a crazy cat chasing a fly past it on its shelf. I collected all the leaves that had broken off as well as an entire branch. They have been sitting for a few days to callus over and my question is now what? Do I stick the ends into some succulent potting mix or just lay them on top? I have heard people do them both ways but which works best for the leaves, or the branch?

I've had good luck with leaves that drop onto the soil, sit there, then root right in the parent pot.

For larger cuttings I just make sure that they're callosed then put them into fast draining mix and water sparingly. I had one large piece fall off of a plant that I was babysitting and it sat in a corner where I couldn't see it for about 6 whole months. When I found it I potted it up and it's growing nicely. They're usually pretty forgiving.

    Good luck,
