Is there an effective treatment? I have tried Bordeux mix with no perceptible results.

I've used fixed copper, which is similar to Bordeaux mix, and found it to be effective. It should be applied at the first hint of mildew or earlier; after the mildew has spread to a large proportion of the plant, it is too late.

I've heard of it but have never tried it. There's plenty of information about it on the Web.
