We just got this young shrub today, and it didn't have an identification tag. The staff at the nursery said it's a juniper, but the foliage is quite soft to the touch and not prickly, which doesn't match the description of junipers that I found online. I'm also interested in the name of the species if it's possible to ID.

Thanks for the ID. Is there any way to tell if it will become a low-growing shrub, or a tree at this point?

Appears to have apical dominance which implies that it will be tree-like in shape - definitely not a mat or carpet at any rate.
