What type of poppies do you have, perennial or annual? Poppies don't like replanting. You can sow annual poppies directly onto the bed, best time is early spring but you can sow even in the late autumn. If you bought or grew seedlings, then they should be planted when they have 1...2 real leaves. Perennial poppies should be planted in the early spring.
I have mostly annual poppy seeds and would like to know if i can plant them now. Thanks for your response.......
Do you mean California Poppies? If you are NOT going to disturb the area where you wish these to grow - and it’s a well drained area - fling a bunch of seeds in there in a wide swath tomorrow! :)and remind me to do same! Remember some poppies volunteer (seed themselves) but it’s not terrible - not like planting invasives. Also pls be careful with some of what is sold as “natural wildflower mix blend” because some do contain plants you or your neighbors will regret If you are curious about lawn mix flowers - have a look at website of West coast seeds out in Ladner BC I am not associated with the company in any way other than buying the seeds mail order sometimes.
Ok I'll fling the seeds tomorrow. I bought them at One Stop Poppy Shoppe in California. I bought all kinds, all red. I really like that shop. I also buy from West Coast Seeds. And you fling your seeds tomorrow too! Thanks!
