I currently have my ponytail outside for the summer. I noticed that earwigs love to hide in it. Is this harmful? If so, how do I get rid of them?

If you have it near or sitting on mulch, move it to a different location.

You can also roll up some newspaper and set it near the pot or on the soil itself first thing in the morning. When the day warms up the earwigs will find shelter in the newspaper. Later in the day, fold the newspaper in half and throw the paper away. Home & Garden TV channel's "Gardening By The Yard" had an episode on this technique. Perhaps there is further detail on the internet.

I have not heard that earwigs will harm a healthy plant. They tend to feed near wet, rotting wood.
