Hello. My poinsettias from Christmas are still going strong. 3 are still red and have just finished flowering. I want to put them outside for the summer. Does anyone know what is too cold for them? Im just wondering about nights... Thanks! Also, where would they prefer to be??
Nighttime temps. above 60 degrees Fahrenheit. (15.55 Celcius) Shady location. Here's a link that may be of some help: http://urbanext.illinois.edu/poinsettia/reflowering.cfm
You should cut your plants back quite hard before putting them outside for the summer, this will encourage new growth and they can be placed in full sun if all or most of the branches and leaves are cut off. They flower/colour better on new growth, and make sure to keep them well watered and fertilized.
