Most fruit trees have good year and bad years. What observations have you notice with the tree. Has anything change around the area of the tree? What was the flower rate like the same or less?

Its probably having a rest year, trees will often fruit in profusion then save energy up.....weather patterns can effect crops eg late frosts damaging flowers or lack of insects around to polinate.

I was so proud of it in 2004 that I might have put too much chemical fertilizers and horse manure around it in the spring of 2005.Is that possible. Thank you for replying.

It is unusual to have a Plum fruit well in one
year and not have any fruit the next. In order
to better understand what went wrong we may
need to know a few particulars.

Was there lots of cloud cover, rain and cooling
temperatures when the Plum was in bloom this
last year? How old is the tree or how long have
you had it in the ground? Was the horse manure
applied fresh or was it composted? Was the
horse manure ground up or shredded before it
was applied? What was the "chemical fertilizer"
you applied, how did you apply it (was it sprinkled
on top of the ground, worked into the ground), how
far from the trunk of the tree was it applied and
how much of it was applied and how often? Did
you see lots of new growth on this tree as a result
of the fertilizer along with the horse manure? Did
you see any new growth emerge and in a short time
later develop some burned tips to the ends of the
leaves? What is your means of watering this tree
and how often do you water it? Did you water in
the fertilizer well after you applied the fertilizer
and the manure? Do you have a photo of what
your tree looks like right now?
