I've had this on my grapes but as the grapes seemed not to be affected, just ignored it. Now you have me curious. I found a very good site (Agriculture Canada) on diseases: http://sci.agr.ca/stjean/pdf/malad_e.pdf but am not sure anything really fits. Their pictures are good as are the descriptions so it may help. Here on the west coast the soil becomes leached so my thoughts go first to soil nutrients. Anyone with some knowledge on this?
