Resin, I'd have guessed a Ribes, just from the leaves. Didn't know there were any that were THAT showy! Dang. Now there's something else I've gotta have to go along with the other gooseberries & currants. Does. R.sanguineum produce tasty fruits(I suppose they're edible, but sometimes tasty is another proposition)?
Hi Lucky, Doubt it would like your climate. It is a very popular garden shrub here, and does very well in our oceanic climate similar to what it gets in the wild. The fruit is edible, but that's about the end of it - small, tasteless, bland, very boring, and with a persistent large dry calyx. Not any enticement! Definitely a species grown for flowers only.
