Hi 4ager, Some, maybe most mushrooms require some background information (details here at http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=44106), such as knowing what you've already said, that it was found growing from the ground, in a lawn. In this case, I would start with asking - what kind of tree was growing nearby? I'm thinking likely a conifer, and if so, can you say which one? Also, if you still have the specimen, when you bruise or cut the stem or pores, does it bruise blue? What was the top of the cap texture like? cheers! frog
Thanks Frog. Kind of tree? I do not know. This particular mushroom bruises blue. The top is velvety. I hope that helps.
