I brought another plant from the supermarket and I need help with ID so I know how to care for it. Notice how the new leaf is growing, it is "rolling" out. I hope I explained this OK. :) Thanks in advance.
You have Asplenium nidus ,or bird's nest fern, these need the same care and lighting as most ferns and are pretty easy to grow indoors.
machinori , They will grow quite large . This one is in the ground in my back yard . Leaves are 4 ft long . It`s the one behind the Blood Lily.
Hello, have just joined you. The Birdsnest is an Australian native from the tropical north. So if growing it outdoors make sure it does not get too cold. Mine is about 25 yrs old and grows in cool temperate under a birch tree. They are able to cope with being dry as mine has just come through a very bad drought period. In its native habitat it is usually up in the branches of trees so relies on water from rain only. Up there it is not able to take up ground water. They are hardy but don't freeze them. regards Liz (Vic. Australia)
