Hello, I would like any information that you can give me on how to identify and prune my green grape vine in western Massachusetts.
Well, to ID it you could just take a picture and post it here. We have grape fanatics who would probaby know right away. I always used to prune my grapes in the fall just after they went dormant and shed their leaves; then I'd cut them back to the main stem and burlap them over for the winter. I can't recall ever actually cutting them while they were in leaf, other than to remove tendrils that threatened to take off my hat (my grapes were on an arbour over my back porch.) The Grapes forum may have more advice.
