I obtained this plant as a cutting from a friend who also did'nt know what type of plant this is. I have never seen this plant in botanical gardens, library books or on the internet, so I have decided to seek help for identification. Notice how the stem connects to the leaf...very unusual. This is my favourite plant by far! I would like to research this plant but I need a name first. Thank you everyone for your time in helping me id this plant.
No, they aren't Rex begonias. It is a Begonia boweri. Also called the eyelash begonia because of the small hairs on the edges. Also you may not have a lot of luck rooting it the way I see in the photo. They can be rooted by pieces of the rhizome, or by taking leaf cuttings. I'm not too sure of success with the petiole in the water though...
