playground mulch

    I put mulch on top off news paper on my kids playground and grass is coming thru , how can I kill the grass with out chemicals so my kids don't get sick ??? can I take the news paper off after a while , it only been on top off the gras for 4 days..... please help!!!!!! thanks

    you'll need to do at least 6 layers of newspaper and more like 10 or 12 would be better. just leave it - eventually it will dissintegrate (sp?) (it is made from wood after all).

    I can't say for certain, but I would not be suprised if diluting Roundup to 50% label mix strength and dispersing, leaves less chemical residue than does the newspaper and ink.

    I agree with M. D. Vaden on the round up even full strength as it dries fast and would do the job better. Just keep the kids off the area for an hour which should be long enough for it to do the job. Plus have the kids wash up good when they come inside.
