I live in SW Florida and I am looking for a grape vine that bears no fruit and the leaves can be used for stuffing.
http://greekfood.about.com/od/ingredientpreptechniques/a/abelofylla.htm No varieties are specified for that use, harvest time, flexibility and storage seem to be the keys.
Vitis coignetiae (Crimson Glory Vine) is listed in at least one source (www.pfaf.org) as being used historically for edible leaf production, and produces very little fruit.
Vitis coignetiae, lacks resistance to both Vitus scourges in the Southern US, Phylloxera and Pierce's Disease. It would likely promptly die in Florida. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitis_coignetiae
As for grape vine, qrafted plants keep safe from phylloxera, endeed . Able to scale trees, beautiful in automn . Greetings from Bordeaux.
Assuming the grafted form is available (not a given) it only would slightly prolong the time till Pierce's Disease kills it. http://winegrapes.tamu.edu/grow/pierce.html
