Should my palm tree roots be showing? The trees seem to be doing well with about 4" of the roots showing. Should I put dirt around the exposed roots?

It sounds like they should be covered, a picture would make it easier to tell.

When palms develop and thicken in the trunk, they send new roots down from the outermost points of the trunk. Often this isn't a problem, but instictively one would think or believe it best to mulch the exposed roots. I've seen them left unattended and manage fine anyway.

    Cheers, LPN.
