    Hi to all,

I am considering buying a Japanese Red Pine - Oculus Draconis. Does anyone know if it is subject to the white pine blister rust as is the white pine? I have a red currant bush in my yard which produces a lot of fruit and would consider removing it so I could have the red pine instead. I understand I would have to remove the currant bush plus at least 4ft. square of the soil around and underneath it to eliminate any chance of white pine blister rust issues. What do you think about this? I would appreciate any clarification about these issues that you can provide Thank you.

It not being a white pine that wouldn't be expected.

No, it isn't. You can grow both together without risk.

    Thank you, Ron and Michael,

It appears that I can have my tree and eat my berries, too!
