Bit of an odd one here. I have a spotted leopard phal, with 2 spikes, that has been in bloom for almost 7 months now. 2 weeks ago I noticed at the end of EACH branch that new buds were appearing as the old flowers were dying. The odd thing is that within the past 2 weeks they have already started to open even though they're only 0.5cm wide. Within the bud looks white and spongy but I can't imagine that it would be a flower. Anybody seen this before?
I had this happen once with a white Phal, the buds would open at the end with a bit of the lip protruding. I still have no idea why it happened and the plant stopped producing flowers that opened too early (I believe that many of these flowers blasted - dropped early) after I moved. Shaun
