    Hi,
I've only had my pencil cactus for a few months, It was in a friends office and looked very healthy with the little leaves I guess the fluorescent lights helped it along. When I brought it home it must have went into shock because it shrunk and doesn't look like the same plant. The stems are green but the tips are brown and I know the root ball is completely dry. I also know they go dormant in the winter so should I water it at all and if so how much.

Even though it loses it's small leaves in winter, I still water, usually once a week if completely dry.
